What are PDO threads?

How are PDO thread carried out at

If you chose to have your PDO threads with us, this is what you can expect:
Consultation
At your initial consultation, one of our highly experienced Registered Cosmetic Nurses will first carry out a full facial assessment in order to suggest a treatment plan that is best suited for you. They will then discuss all aspects of the treatment (including any possible complications) and confirm the total cost of the procedure. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions or address any concerns you may have.
Procedure
Firstly we will apply a local anaesthetic and ice to the treatment area in order to minimise any discomfort. The threads are then inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern, producing a tightening effect. The procedure typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes but this will vary depending on the size of the area that’s being treated.
Results
After approximately 6 weeks you will begin to see the results of your treatment. However, the results will continue to improve over the next 2 to 6 months as new collagen is produced, further tightening your skin. Although the threads will slowly dissolve naturally, you’ll continue to see results for up to 12 months.
How much does a PDO thread treatment cost?
The total cost for your thread treatment will depend on the size of the treatment area and the number of threads used. You will be given accurate cost at your initial consultation, however, PDO threads start from:
- 1-30 – $30 per thread
- 31-50 – $20 per thread
- 51-99 – $15 per thread
- 100 and above – $13 per thread

There are a number of advantages of having a thread treatment over surgery. PDO threads are less invasive, more cost-effective and has a much lower risk of complications than a surgical treatment. A thread treatment also requires much less downtime than invasive surgery.
Pain is subjective, however, most of our clients would consider it to be of minimal discomfort. To make it as comfortable as possible for our clients we use a local anaesthetic cream and ice on the treatment area before we start the procedure.
Depending on the area treated, it is expected there will be some degree of swelling, bruising and mild discomfort. For some people, this does not affect their daily routine, but others may want to schedule their appointment around their social and work commitments.
A PDO thread treatment is regarded as a safe procedure as it is minimally invasive and therefore there is little risk of scarring, bruising, bleeding or any other complications. There will likely be some degree of swelling, bruising and mild discomfort after treatment but this is completely normal.
Yes, PDO threads can be combined with other procedures. They are sometimes combined with dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections, depending on the results you’re looking to achieve. You can discuss the possibility of combining treatments at your initial consultation.
There is only minimal downtime needed after a thread treatment, however, we do recommend that you wait at least a week before you undertake any strenuous physical activity or exercise.
